Kigali ([ciɡɑlí]), with population of more than 1 million (2012), is the capital and largest city of Rwanda. It is situated near the geographic centre of the nation. The city has been the economic, cultural, and transport hub of Rwanda since it became capital at independence in 1962. The main residence and offices of the President of Rwanda are located in the city, as are the government ministries. The city is coterminous with the province of Kigali City, which was enlarged in January 2006, as part of local government reorganisation in the country. Kigali's city limits covers the whole province, it is consolidated. The city's urban area covers about 70% of the municipal boundaries.

NderaNdera is a village on the outskirts of the Kigali urban area in Rwanda. About 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) from the capital, it is the headquarters of the Gasabo District. The Ndera Neuropsychiatric Hospital (Caraes) is the referral hospital for neuropsychiatric disorders, with 288 beds. The hospital re-opened in August 1994, and began treating people who had been traumatized by the recent Rwandan Genocide. As of 2008 it treated about 2,500 patients monthly. Kicukiro DistrictKicukiro is a district (akarere) in Kigali Province, Rwanda. Its headquarters is the Kigali suburb of Kicukiro. Kicukiro is home to a thriving market, a number of NGOs and the Bralirwa Brewery. In addition, it is the headquarters for the Friends Church in Rwanda. Kicukiro District is also home to two major memorial sites associated with the Rwandan genocide. These are the Rebero Genocide Memorial Site where 14,400 victims are buried, and the Nyanza-Kicukiro Genocide Memorial Site where 5,000 victims were killed after Belgian soldiers who were serving in the United Nations peacekeeping forces abandoned them, in an unprecedented act of cowardice.Show on map

Stade AmahoroThe Amahoro Stadium (Kinyarwanda: Stade Amahoro; French: Stade Amahoro; Kinyarwanda for \"Peace Stadium\"), also known as Amahoro National Stadium, is a multi-purpose stadium in the Gasabo district of Kigali, Rwanda. With a capacity of 30,000, it is the largest stadium in Rwanda and hosts football matches, concerts, and public events. The football clubs Armée Patriotique Rwandaise F.C. and Rayon Sports F.C. are the tenants.
