Kvemo Kartli (Lower Kartli, Georgian: ქვემო ქართლი, Azerbaijani: Aşağı Kartli) is a historic province and current administrative region (Mkhare) in southeastern Georgia. The city of Rustavi is a regional capital. The population is mixed between Azerbaijanis (45.1%), Georgians (44.7%), Armenians, Pontic Greeks and Caucasus Greeks, Russians and others. The current governor is Paata Khizanashvili The region comprises one city, Rustavi, and six municipalities:

BolnisiBolnisi (Georgian: is a city in the country of Georgia, located in the Kvemo Kartli region and capital of the Bolnisi district. It currently has an estimated 13,800 inhabitants. In 1818 the colony Katharinenfeld was founded in Bolnisi by 95 German colonist families from Swabia. After the occupation of the Red Army in 1921, it was renamed to Luxemburg after the German communist Rosa Luxemburg. In 1941 all the Germans descendants who were not married to Georgians were deported to Siberia and Kazakhstan. There are still remnants of the German past in Bolnisi. A small graveyard and plaque acknowledges the German influence in the village. TabakhmelaTabaxmela (Georgian: (Dry Lake - Tba-Lake, Khmeli-dry) is a village in the Kartli region, overlooking the city of Tbilisi, Georgia. The village is also home to several traditional religious festivals throughout a year, particularly Tamaroba (local celebration of St. King Tamaras day, May 14). KojoriKojori (Georgian: კოჯორი) is a small town (daba) in Georgia, some 20 kilometers southwest of the nation’s capital of Tbilisi. It is a so-called \"climate resort\" and home to several dachas of the Tbilisite families. The SGT Giorgi Antsukhelidze NCO School and Center is located near Kojori. The Center is named for SGT Antsukhelidze who was captured, tortured and murdered by South Ossetian militants during the 2008 War. GardabaniGardabani (Georgian: is a town in the Georgian region of Kvemo Kartli, and the centre of the Garbabani district, located 39 km south of Georgia's capital Tbilisi. As of 2002, its population was 19,900 people. The town is roughly (43%) Formerly known as Karayazi, it was renamed, after a nearby located ruined medieval fortress Qaratepe, to Gardabani in 1947 and was given the status of a city in 1969. DmanisiDmanisi (Georgian: is a townlet and archaeological site in the Kvemo Kartli region of Georgia approximately 93 km southwest of the nation’s capital Tbilisi in the river valley of Mashavera. The hominin site is the earliest of its kind outside of Africa, dating back to 1.81 Ma. A series of skulls from Dmanisi, discovered in the early 2010s, led to the hypothesis that many separate species in the Homo genus were in fact a single lineage.
