The Prešov Region (Slovak: Prešovský kraj, [ˈpreʃowskiː ˈkraj]) is one of the eight Slovak administrative regions and consists of 13 districts (okresy) and 666 municipalities, from which 23 have a town status. The region was established in 1996 and is the most populous of all the regions in the country. Its administrative center is the city of Prešov.

Veľký ŠarišVeľký Šariš (German: Groß-Scharosch; Hungarian: Nagysáros) is a small town near Prešov in eastern Slovakia. The town is known as the site of the largest brewery in Slovakia - Šariš Brewery. The first written mention of Veľký Šariš dates back to 1217. Veľký Šariš lies at an altitude of 269 metres (883 ft) above sea level and covers an area of 25.73 square kilometres (9.9 sq mi). SviniaSvinia (Hungarian: Szinye) is a village of some 1,500 people (as of 2005 ) in eastern Slovakia about 8 km west from Prešov. The village covers an area of 14.734km². It consists of two settlements of similar size, one inhabited by Slovaks and the other by Romani. The Svinia Romani settlement was visited and \"discovered\" by Canadian anthropologists in 1993, and became the subject of the documentary film The Gypsies of Svinia. The team was shocked at the appalling and unsanitary living conditions, the 100% unemployment, and the deep racial divide between white Svinia and Romani Svinia. Svinia has since become infamous in Europe and has been the subject of studies, books and films. International projects to improve life for the Romani in Svinia have been ongoing since the 1990s. StarinaStarina reservoir is a water reservoir in eastern Slovakia, Snina District, located in the Poloniny National Park. It is the most important source of drinking water in the area, built on the headwaters of the river Cirocha. Building started in 1981. 3,463 inhabitants were evacuated from 769 dwellings from the 7 following villages (Starina, Dara, Ostružnica, Smolník, Ruské, Veľká Poľana and Zvala). The total surface of the water reservoir Starina is 240 ha. The height of the water headbay is 50 m. This source of drinking water is very important because it supplies nearly whole area of East Slovakia with drinking water. There is a scenic viewpoint above the water reservoir Starina. Starý SmokovecStarý Smokovec (Hungarian: Ótátrafüred; German: Altschmecks; Polish: Stary Smokowiec) is a part of the town of Vysoké Tatry in northern Slovakia in the Tatras. Its name is pronounced approximately \"Star-EE Smoke-oh-vets\", meaning \"Old Smokovec\". Starý Smokovec is a popular resort for skiing and hiking. BijacovceBijacovce (Hungarian: Szepesmindszent; German is a village and municipality in Levoča District in the Prešov Region of central-eastern Slovakia. The village is along the famous Gothic Route and the church dates from the 13th century. The church is gothic with a rotunda to match it. There is also a manor house from the 18th century in Bijacovce. The manor house was built between 1780-1785 by the Csaky family. The last renovation of the manor house was in 1955. Spišské PodhradieSpišské Podhradie (German: Kirchdrauf; Hungarian: Szepesváralja) is a town in Spiš in the Prešov Region of Slovakia. Its population is 3,826. Spišské Podhradie is situated at the foot of the hill of Spiš Castle. It had a Zipser German settlement, with its own church and priest, in 1174. Just above, and adjacent to, the town is the ecclesiastical settlement of Spišská Kapitula (hence an old German name Kirchdorf, meaning \"church town\"). RuninaRunina is a village and municipality in Snina District in the Prešov Region of north-eastern Slovakia. The first written reference of the village dates back to 1569. The municipality lies at an altitude of 550 metres and covers an area of 22.198 km². According to the 2013 census it had a population of 75 inhabitants. The village situated in the buffer zone of the Poloniny National Park offers easy access to most of the National Park's hiking trails. Tatranská LomnicaTatranská Lomnica is a town in the Slovakian part of the High Tatras mountains. It is a skiing and hiking resort best known for the cable car to Lomnický štít, one of the steepest in Europe and remarkable for its lack of support pylons between the two stations . Tatranská Lomnica railway station is one endpoint of the Tatra Electric Railway, which connects the town to Starý Smokovec. DvorceDvorce is the name of a village in the Levoča district of Slovakia. After over 600 years, the village was evacuated and destroyed in the 1950s to make way for the Javorina military training area. Former inhabitants light candles at the sight of their former homes, but must seek permission to do so. Dvorce has been known by various names: Hungarian: Dvorecz (1869 place name), now Szepesudvard (current usage) and German Burgerhof. Kežmarok district borders Stará Ľubovňa District, Levoča District, Poprad District, Sabinov District and Poland. It lies mainly on a foothills of High Tatras. Kežmarok district was established in 1923 and in its present borders exist from 1996. It belongs to the smaller Slovak districts with lower population density. Popradské PlesoPopradské pleso (once called Rybie pleso) is a mountain lake of glacial origin located in the High Tatras, Slovakia. It is situated right on the path of Tatranská magistrála, at an altitude of 4,901 ft (1,494 m). Popradské pleso is one of the most visited spots in High Tatras and a starting point for many popular hikes including to Rysy and Kôprovský štít. Kráľová HoľaKráľova hoľa (German: Königsberg; Hungarian: Király-hegy, literally \"King's Bald Mountain\") is the highest mountain (1,946 m) of the eastern part of the Low Tatras in central Slovakia. Four rivers rise at its foot: Čierny Váh, Hnilec, Hornád, and Hron. The summit, easily accessible by hiking trails from Telgárt as well as by a paved road from Šumiac (inaccessible by motor cars, except for the mountain rescue service and maintenance workers of the TV transmitter on the summit), offers a panoramic view of Spiš, the Tatras, Liptov, and the Upper Hron Valley. Largely deforested by exploitative timber harvesting in the early 19th century, its timberline was restored to its natural elevation of about 1,650 m (5,413 ft.) through the efforts of Ludwig Greiner in the second half of that century.Show on map
ČerhovČergov is a mountain range in the central part of the Prešov Region of Slovakia. Geologically the range is part of the Outer Western Carpathians, but may be classified (as Slovaks do) as part of the Eastern Beskids, or classified (as Poles do) as part of the Western Beskids. The Polish name for the range is Góry Czerchowskie, the Czerchów Mountains. The entire range is composed of Carpathian flysch and is oriented from north to southeast. The major peaks include Minčol (1157 m), Veľká Javorina (1098 m), Bukový vrch (1010 m), and 'Lyá (1068 m). Čergov Peak itself stands at 1050 m.Show on map
Levočské VrchyThe Levoča Mountains (in Slovakian, Levočské vrchy) is a mountain range in the Prešov Region of northern Slovakia. Geologically the range stands within the Podhale-Magura Area of the Outer Western Carpathians. The highest point is Čierna hora (Black Mountain), at 1,289 m.
