The Nitra Region (Slovak: Nitriansky kraj; Hungarian: Nyitrai kerület) is one of the administrative regions of Slovakia. It was first established in 1923 and from 1996 exists in its present borders. It consists of seven districts /okresy/ and 354 municipalities, from which 15 have a town status. The economy of the region focuses more on agriculture, than in other Slovakian regions. Nitra is its seat, largest city and cultural and economic center.

RadošinaRadošina is a municipality in the Topoľčany District of the Nitra Region, Slovakia. In 2011 it had 2013 inhabitants. It is located in the southwestern part of Topoľčany district, on the border mountains Interesting Routes Nitra and downs. The village lies at 216 m above sea level, the cadastral territory covers an area of 2767 ha and has over two thousand inhabitants. The area of Radošina was inhabited during the Middle Paleolithic, as evidenced by the findings in the cave called Devil's Furnace. PodhradiePodhradie is a municipalityin the Topoľčany District of the Nitra Region, Slovakia. In 2011 it had 304 inhabitants. Podhradie lies on the upper Slivnica stream. The center of the village sits at 435 meters above sea level, while the village territory varies from 223 to 863 meters above sea level. Podhradie occupies the site of the early settlement Hornouc, of Hrnovce, thought to have been destroyed by brigans. Iron Age fortifications existed within the current village territory. Traces of prehistoric dwellers can also be found. At one point gold was mined, coins minted and iron ore smelted. In the mid-13th century a castle keep was built and became the seat of the Topoľčany estate, which contained 26 villages. In 1390 the village appeared in records as Waralya, and in 1580 as Podhragy. KomárnoKomárno (Hungarian: Komárom, colloquially Révkomárom, Öregkomárom, Észak-Komárom, German: Komorn, Serbian: is a town in Slovakia at the confluence of the Danube and the Váh rivers. Komárno was formed from part of a historical town in Hungary situated on both banks of the Danube. Following World War I and the Treaty of Trianon, the border of the newly created Czechoslovakia cut the historical, unified town in half, creating two new towns. The smaller part, based on the former suburb of Újszőny, is in present-day Hungary as Komárom (the historical Hungarian town had the same name). Komárno and Komárom are connected by the Elisabeth Bridge, which used to be a border crossing between Slovakia and Hungary until border checks were lifted due to the Schengen Area rules. AndačZbehy-Andač is a neighbourhood of the village and municipality Zbehy located in the Nitra district. The total area is approximately 294 ha. It is located in the Nitra Hills on Sliváš brook and close to Andač brook, on the right hand side of the road from Zbehy to Alekšince. There is a chapel built in the second half of 20th century. The main at the cemeterycross dates back to 1818. Approximately 700m west of the neighbourhood, there is a train stop on the railroad from Leopoldov to Nitra. The main landmark is Catholic Church of All Saints built in 1787. MochovceMochovce (Hungarian: Mohi) is a former village in western Slovakia, best known for its nuclear power plant. It is situated in Nitra Region, ca 8 miles northwest of Levice. The village inhabitants were relocated and the village was destroyed to make place for the power plant. A late baroque church and a cemetery are the only remaining structures. Zřícenina TematínTematín Castle is a castle ruin in western Slovakia. The castle was originally built in the second half of the 13th century in the Kingdom of Hungary. It was completely reconstructed by the Thurzó family, owners of the castle from 1524. The last owner was Miklós Bercsényi, general of the anti-Habsburg insurrection army during Rákóczi's War of Independence. The castle fell into ruins after it was besieged in 1710 as a part of the suppression of the anti-Habsburg uprising.Show on map

HandlovkaHandlovka is a 32 km long river in central Slovakia (Prievidza District). left tributary of the Nitra river. Basin area 178,3 km². Its source is in the Vtacnik Mountains, near the Biely kameň. It is located at an elevation of 244 meters above sea level. Major cities and towns situated on the Handlovka are Handlová and Prievidza. The first name of the river was Prievidza. Handlovka is also known as Handlova, Handlovka, Handlová. An approximately regular course of groundwater storage curve was disconnected for the whole period from 1993 to 1997. StrážovStrážov, at 1,213 m (3,980 ft), is the highest mountain in the Strážov Mountains, part of the Inner Western Carpathians, in Trenčín and Žilina Regions, Slovakia. The mountain is protected by National Nature Reserve Strážov, which belongs to Strážov Mountains Protected Landscape Area. The National Nature Reserve was declared in 1981 and covers an area of 4.8 km² (1.85 mi²). The nearest villages are Zliechov and Čičmany.Show on map
