The South East Community Development Council (abbreviation: SE CDC) is one of five Community Development Councils (CDCs) set up across the Republic of Singapore to aid in local administration of governmental policies and schemes. They are funded in part by the government although they are free to engage in fund-raising activities. The South East Community Development Council (CDC) was set up on 24 November 2001. Spanning the scenic eastern Coast of Singapore, the South East District is home to more than 551,000 residents. The District includes some of the island’s most vibrant, historical and beautiful neighbourhoods, such as Geylang Serai, Joo Chiat, Bedok and Marine Parade. Pasir Ris New TownPasir Ris (Chinese: 巴西立 or 白沙, Tamil: பாசிர் ரிஸ்) is an planning area and residential town located in the East Region of Singapore. It is bordered by Tampines and Paya Lebar to the south, Sengkang to the southwest and Changi to the east. The planning area also shares riverine boundary with Punggol to the west, separated by the Serangoon River, as well as having a maritime boundary with the North-Eastern Islands planning area, across the Straits of Johor. Bedok New TownBedok /bəˈdɒk/ (Chinese: 勿洛, Tamil: பிடோக்) is a planning area and matured residential town located in the East Region of Singapore. Population wise, Bedok is the largest planning area in the Republic, being home to an estimated 289,000 residents. This high demographic is largely explained by the affordable public housing in Bedok New Town, due to its relatively distant location from the Central Area. Besides public housing developments, private residences are also prevalent the area, most of which are found in the neighborhoods of Bayshore, Frankel and Siglap, in western and southwestern Bedok.
