Basic information about Kilifi
Kilifi County is a county of Kenya. It was formed in 2010 as a result of merge of Kilifi District and Malindi District. Its capital is Kilifi and its largest town is Malindi. The county has a population of 1,109,735. It covers an area of 12,245.90 km2 (4,728.17 sq mi). Kilifi county forms a constituency when electing a senator and a woman representatives of Kenyan Parliament and Senate. It also elects it own governor who is the county leader. The county is represented in parliament by seven legislators, one woman representative and a Senator in senate. The county also has 35 ward representatives. The county is located north and northeast of Mombasa. Kilifi has fewer tourists than Mombasa County, but there are some tourists beaches in Kikambala, Watamu, Malindi and Kilifi.

TakaunguTakaungu is a small rural village located on the Kenyan Coast between Mombasa and Malindi, in Kilifi County. It is 10 kilometres south of the Kilifi town, in the Kikambala division. The town has population of 1500 . Fishing and a local coral quarry are the predominate industries. The population consists of Swahili Muslims, mostly living in or near the town center and a sizable Christian community in the shambas or countryside that surrounds it. GedeGede (also known as Gedi) is a village on the Indian Ocean coast of Kenya, lying in Kilifi County, south of Malindi and north of Watamu. The Ruins of Gedi are located there. Although not thought to be mentioned in historic sources, extensive ruins of a former port have been dated to the thirteenth century or earlier, including a tomb with a date corresponding to 1399, until at least the seventeenth century. Later, the port was abandoned and not rediscovered until the 1920s. The modern village is home to a museum and a butterfly house. Show Gedeon the map
MambruiMambrui is a settlement in Kenya's Coast Province, located east of Marikebuni along the Malindi-Garissa Road, south of Gongoni and north of Malindi. Mambrui is the site of a project by a team of Kenyan and Chinese archaeologists, who are looking for evidence of contact with the Chinese during the era of the Yongle Emperor. In October 2010, the team went public about the discovery of an early 15th-century Chinese coin, the remains of an iron smelter accompanied by iron slag, and a jade-green shard of porcelain believed to come from Long Quan, a kiln that made porcelain exclusively for the royal family during the early Ming Dynasty. KilifiKilifi is a town on the coast of Kenya, 56 kilometres (35 mi) northeast by road of Mombasa. The town lies on the Kilifi Creek and sits on the estuary of the Goshi River. Kilifi is capital of the Kilifi County and has a population of 122,899 (2009 census ). Malindi DistrictMalindi District was a former administrative district in the Coast Province of Kenya. Its capital was the coastal town of Malindi. When it was eliminated and merged into Kilifi County in 2010, the district had a population of 544,303 . Malindi Town is increasingly becoming known as Kenya’s version of \"Little Italy\". MtwapaMtwapa is a town located in Kenya's Kilifi County. The town is situated approximately 16 kilometres (9.9 mi) north-east of Mombasa on the Mombasa-Malindi road. The town is also the location of the Mombasa-Mtwapa matatu terminus. Mtwapa Creek is an Indian Ocean inlet at Mtwapa, which is the border between Mombasa and Mtwapa (connected through a bridge).
