Kiambu County is a county in the former Central Province of Kenya. Its capital is Kiambu and its largest town is Thika. The county is adjacent to the northern border of Nairobi County and has a population of 1,623,282.Its governor is William Kabogo. The county is 40% rural and 60% urban owing to Nairobi's consistent growth Northwards. Kikuyu are the dominant tribe in the county. In 2007, Kiambu District was subdivided in two: Kiambu East and Kiambu West. Kiambu West district took Limuru, Lari and Kikuyu divisions, with Limuru as its district capital.

KikuyuKikuyu is one of the indigenous towns in Kiambu County which grew from the settlement of the colonialist missionaries and the presence of a rail Station. Some of the residents of the area till to date still refer to the town as Shesheni a term coined from the word Station meaning the Railway Station. It is within the County of Kiambu and one of the regions registering fast growth. The town is located about 20 km (12 mi) northwest of central Nairobi, the capital of Kenya. MataaraMataara is a settlement in Kenya's Central Province.Mataara is the home to Mataara Tea Factory that produces some of the best tea in the world. It lies on the edges of the Aberdare ranges, and borders the Kieni forest. It has a very rich history, and contributed immensely during the struggle for Independence by hosting Mau mau fighters. NdumberiNdumberi is a municipality division in Central Province, Kenya. It is located at around 1°9′25″S 36°48′25″E / 1.15694°S 36.80694°E, in the elevation of about 1,820 m. The surrounding catchment has a population of about 18,000. It located 3 km NW of Kiambu, the capital of the Kiambu District. Road improvements in 2008 have made this village more accessible to Nairobi in under 30 minutes by auto.
