Isiolo County is a county in the former Eastern Province of Kenya. Its population is 143,294 (2009 census), and its capital is Isiolo. Isiolo County is to be the first county to be developed as part of the Kenya Vision 2030 program. Its capital and largest town is Isiolo. The local topography is arid or semi-arid low plains. Ewaso Nyiro River flows through the county and partly bounds it.

IsioloIsiolo is a town in the former Eastern Province, Kenya. It is situated in the Upper Eastern sub-region, and lies 285 kilometres north of Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya. The town grew around the local military camps, much of the population being descended from former Somali soldiers who had fought in World War I as well as other Cushitic-speaking pastoral communities and the Ameru community. The town has an estimated population of 80,000 people, most of them living in the rural outbacks of the District. There is an increasing urban population in the recent years, especially from as far as Moyale, Marsabit and Mandera. Garba TulaGarba Tula is a town in Northern Kenya. The town has an urban population of about 5,500 . In 2007 it was up-graded to a District status. Mr. Joseph Onyango became the first District Commissioner on 17 November 2007. The district is already a fully fledged one.The town has been known for its famous National School run by NCCK. Garba Tula is located 120 km East of Isiolo town. The urban center of Mado Gashi is located about 100 km North East of Garba Tula. It is about 90 km to Maua town via Kinna, up to which the road is an all-weather one, and then tarmac which starts right at the gates of Meru National Park which is about 60 km away from Garba Tula town and about 14 km from Kinna town. Meru North DistrictMeru North District was one of the unconstitutionally created districts of Kenya, located in that country's Eastern Province. In 1992, it was split from the large Meru District, along with Meru Central District, Meru South District (Nithi), and Tharaka District. Since the Supreme Court's decision in September 2009, Meru North is again part of Meru County. The district headquarters was in the town of Maua. Shaba National ReserveShaba National Reserve is a protected area in northern Kenya to the east of the Samburu and Buffalo Springs national reserves. Together, the three reserves form a large protected area. The Shaba reserve has dramatic scenery including river-side forests, scattered woodlands and dry grasslands dominated by the Shaba Hill volcano.
