AktauAktau (Kazakh: Ақтау) is a city in the Kazakhstan, located on the east bank of the Caspian Sea. Its current name means \"white mountain\" in Kazakh, which may be due to its cliffs that overlook the Caspian. From 1964 to 1991 city was known as Shevchenko (Russian: Шевченко). Its former name was given due to the eponymous Ukrainian poet's period of exile in the area. It is located on the Mangyshlak Peninsula and is the capital of Mangystau Region. Show Aktauon the map
ZhanaozenJanaozen or Zhanaozen (Kazakh: Жаңаөзен, Jañaözen, جاڭاوزەن), formerly known as Novy Uzen (Russian: Новый Узень/Nový Uzeń, until 1993), is a town in the Mangystau Region of Kazakhstan located south-east of the city of Aktau. The name of the town means \"new river\" in Kazakh. Zhanaozen is a town of regional significance. BeyneuBeyneu (Kazakh: is an auyl and the administrative center of Beyneu District in Mangystau Region in western Kazakhstan. Beyneu first began to expand in the 1970s from a village to a city with the discovery of oil in the area. There is a railway station, and further up north in Kasura, there is a Chevron oil plant. The gas pipeline of the Central Asia–Center gas pipeline system metering station at Beyneu on the border with Uzbekistan. Trains from Russia to Uzbekistan and Tajikistan also pass through it.
