BeskölBeskol is a village in Almaty Region of south-eastern Kazakhstan. Beskol, which means Five Lakes in Kazakh, has a roughly 50% Russian, 50% Kazakh mix. The primary employer is the railway station, which is an important both as a passenger and freight stop – trains travel through here to both Almaty and Astana, and west to Urumqi in China. There is also a fish canning factory, mostly known for its noxious smell. TamgalyTamgaly is a petroglyph site in the Semirechye, Kazakhstan. Tamgaly is located 120 km to north-west of Almaty, and takes about two and a half hours as the side road to Tamgaly is in poor condition (August 2013). The site is open to visitors, and the guards can assist you to head in the right direction along a gravel path. The main petroglyphs can be reached in about 15 minutes from the car park. The majority of the 5000 petroglyphs are in the main canyon, but there are a number in the many side canyons. Pik TalgarPik Talgar is a northern peak in the Tian Shan mountain range in Kazakhstan, named after Talgar river and city. It is the highest peak of the Trans-Ili Alatau. Due to its close proximity to the former capital of Kazakhstan, Almaty, it is a popular mountaineering destination.
