Bena-MakimaBena Makima is a community in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is on the right bank of the Kasai River, a few kilometers downstream from the point where the Lulua River enters the Kasai.It is at the highest navigable point on the Kasai in the dry season. TshikapaTshikapa is a city in Kasaï District in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The city is located about 40 miles north of the Angolan border and 120 miles west of province capital Kananga at the confluence of the Tshikapa and Kasai rivers. According to records published by the Utrecht University library, the population of the city has grown from 38,900 in 1970 to 180,900 in 1994. However the two recent Congo wars have caused great flux in population rendering current figures unreliable. Tshikapa has been a site of diamond mining since its founding in the early twentieth century. Ndjoko-PundaDjokupunda, also spelt Djoko Punda and known in colonial times as Charlesville, is a small town in the Kasai-Occidental province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. A Mennonite mission of the Congo Inland Mission was founded there in 1912 and became a centre for establishing further missions in the region. The town is close to the upper Kasai River, at the limit of navigation on that river, and is connected by dirt tracks to Luebo, 64 km east-north-east and Tshikapa, 150 km south. NyangaNianga (Nyanga) is a village in Kasai-Occidental Province in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is around 65 kilometres (40 mi) north-west of Tshikapa, and 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) west of the Kasai river. The town was founded as a mission post in 1923.
